A legend in its own time

A legend in its own time

Now, more than ever, great communication services are at the forefront of good business. With so many more people working from home because of Covid-19 restrictions, it is vital to have the right connectivity to ensure staff can remain professional while working remotely.

The Office for National Statistics reports that the number of people working from home more than doubled in 2020 during the pandemic.

One Bradford-based company has recognised that it is not as straightforward as taking your desk phone from the office and plugging it in at home. Unlike ordinary landlines, office phones are usually powered by VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) which converts incoming or outgoing calls into digital signals that transmit through the internet. This means that you can easily receive and make business calls around the world using a softphone or a desk phone.

The beauty of VoIP is its flexibility, scalability, and host of useful features, making it one of the world’s most popular communication systems.

However, because VoIP requires specialist configuration, once the phone is disconnected from the router, it can’t be used on another system without being reconfigured by an IT engineer.

Legend Telecom was founded in 2017 by entrepreneur, Josh Zen, whose mission is to provide customers with what they need for their business, without the costs levied by some of the multi-national telecommunications companies.

He is a software developer who specialises in seeing the problem and working to fix it. Josh has developed the majority of the software used by Legend Telecom, which helps customers achieve what they need with internet and VoIP.

The biggest problem with VoIP is NAT (Network Address Translation), which is what limits the use of office telephonic equipment at home. Josh has developed a VoIP platform that resolves these issues, and offers a service that rivals the multi-nationals.

Josh explains: “Businesses have to stay professional, so if you take your business phone home, an IT engineer has to come around and reconfigure your router to enable you to send and receive business calls. With many telecom companies, you pay a fixed monthly fee, whether you use your business phone every day or just once a month.

“With the VoIP platform that I’ve developed, it is completely gets around this, so we have VoIP on our mobiles and our desktops, and there’s no extra configuration required – it’s just a plug-and-play system.”

Legend Telecom was established in Bradford, with Josh building it from the ground up, and now has customers throughout the UK. The company has grown organically, largely through word-of-mouth and recommendation.

As well as VoIP phones, they offer business broadband; colocation services; virtual servers; dedicated servers; desktop-as-a-service; VPS hosting; and website hosting.

For the most part, there’s nothing that Josh and his team can’t deal with remotely, but the benefit for companies in Bradford and the surrounding areas, is that they are local. Everything has been created in the city using their own platform, so they are on hand when needed.

Their business packages offer unlimited downloads; high speed; and control over your services.

Josh is very clear about his mission: “Our intention is to get rid of the problems that prevent people working effectively, either in the office or at home. And we want to keep on growing, while providing services for customers that put the big providers to shame.”

The future’s here – and the future’s Legend.
