Celebrating 20 Regal years

Celebrating 20 Regal years

IT’S an exciting time at Regal Foods in Bradford, as the successful Yorkshire company prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Founded in the heart of Bradford in 2001, the now-global organisation started from humble beginnings, with the modest dream of catering for the South Asian community by supplying local corner and grocery stores, in and around Yorkshire.

Following the launch of the classic South Asian snack, the cake rusk, that put them on the map, Regal Foods expanded their bakery lines to offer delights such as, puff pastries, cakes, biscuits, and much more, while the deliciously-baked cake rusk now includes 18 varieties and flavours.

Word soon spread and the popularity of the products grew. Before long, Regal Foods was delivering to all corners of the UK, and, by 2005, the products were being featured on the shelves of their very first major supermarket. More and more supermarkets came on board, selling Regal baked goods in their World Food aisles.

As the product list continued to grow, with new bakery and confectionery lines being added to the range, so the company expanded into Europe. By 2008, Regal was exporting to supermarkets in six other countries.

The company was keen to expand beyond bakery and confectionary goods, and introduced a selection of refreshing tropical juices. The next few years saw a boom in the desire for Regal products, and, by 2019, they were shipping to more than fifty countries around the world, including the United States of America and Canada.

Regal Foods now produces hundreds of lines, including traditional savoury snacks; tropical juices; crisps and popcorn; sweets and candyfloss; condiment sauces; cooking marinades; green teas, and so much more.

In 2018, the bakery arm – Regal Bakery – was nominated among the top ten nation’s favourite bakeries by The Grocer – a leading magazine within the food industry. The listing saw the Yorkshire-born company positioned alongside household favourites, such as Mr Kipling and Cadbury.

Over the last two decades, Regal Foods has received many awards that has highlighted its success, recognition, and contribution to the food industry and the community. Among these awards are Halal Manufacture of the Year; New Products Award by The Grocer; and the Power Business of the Year, from the English Asian Business Awards.

In 2019, CEO, Younis Chaudhry, was invited to the Bradford Means Business award ceremony where he was presented with the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2020, he met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when he represented Bradford businesses at Bradford City Hall.

Regal is very mindful of its social responsibility, and, over the last 20 years, has supported the wider community, as well as many charities and relief projects, not only locally, but in the UK and around the world.

CEO Younis Chaudhry said: “Regal Foods is delighted to be celebrating 20 brilliant years of not only bringing the world a wide range of food and drink, but celebrating the communities and charities we work with and support. As the business continues to grow and have an impact around the world, we are excited to see what the next 20 years will bring.”

The taste of Regal is now on a global scale, and one that has become a firm family favourite within not only the South Asian household, but beyond – bringing food to life for everyone to enjoy.
