Hygiene in the work place is fundamental for the health and safety of everyone – employees, visitors and customers. Daily cleaning regimes, up to date staff training and effective cleaning products are essential in maintaining a healthy working environment.

Bradford based Christeyns understands that the success of a company starts with its workers, which is why it is crucial to provide them with a safe and healthy working environment as well as the tools they need to excel in their given roles. Good occupational hygiene helps keep employees physically and mentally healthy, allowing them the energy and resources to focus on the task at hand and be at their most effective.

According to Health and Safety Executive (HSE), 30.7 million working days were lost due to work-related ill health and non-fatal work injuries in 2017/2018.* It’s also worth noting that ill health in the workplace affects not only the individual, but family members, colleagues, employers and the wider society.

Having employees off the job could lead to a halt or slowdown in production and the need to allocate additional resources to finding staff replacements. Obligations that come with injury and illness – including rehabilitation, specialist appointments, treatments and procedures – can take further time and focus away from the job.

Rutland Street is the UK headquarters for Christeyns and has been so since the purchase of the Oils and Soaps Company in 1998. Professional Hygiene has always been a key focus area of the business and in line with plans to strengthen its position in this market sector, the firm acquired manufacturing specialist Clover Chemicals in October last year.

Clover Chemicals Ltd has been producing effective cleaning chemicals since 1990 and now boasts a range of over 400 different products across various industry sectors including floor care, car care, janitorial products, dish washing and washroom hygiene.

The firm is known for its range of high quality, specialised products and has built a reputation for being trustworthy and reliable. Part of this success has been identifying and selecting distributors with whom they can work closely to maximise sales opportunities and business development. This network of valued distributors has allowed the business to strengthen its position in its chosen markets.

The acquisition of Clover Chemicals is a great addition to our Christeyns UK family, based here in Bradford,” states Nick Garthwaite, Managing Director. “The people, expertise and quality of products produced by Clover make them a perfect fit for our business and we are confident that over the coming year our professional hygiene division will reach new heights both in product offering and customer service.

An established range of value added services provides customers with additional support and reassurance. Services such as bespoke training, on-line risk assessment tools, dispensing systems and installation are backed up by an experienced and knowledgeable sales team.

The 13 acre site, which boasts 100,000 sq.ft of modern manufacturing, has a chemical bulk storage capability of 500,000 litres for raw materials and can produce over 25 million litres per annum. The facility is fully compliant with UK and EU legislation regarding biocidal products and approved by the Environmental Agency.

This efficient, modern manufacturing operation ensures the firm can provide and maintain consistently high quality standards. The latest equipment, such as variable speed mixers, high speed filling and capping lines, along side extensive bulk storage facilities, keeps service standards high and order fulfillment both timely and accurate.

Working alongside the manufacturing team, a separate, purpose-built laboratory monitors and controls the daily production and filling operations. A 300m2 complex houses the research and development team that works on developing innovative solutions to meet the needs of the evolving cleaning industry.

In line with Christeyns’ environmental policies, the manufacturing plant operates with minimum impact on the environment and looks to reduce the impact its products have by using eco-friendly chemical alternatives.

Over the coming months, Christeyns will focus on expanding the professional hygiene product range and strengthening its position in this strategically important market. These developments will provide significant benefits for Christeyns’ customers including an enhanced product range as well as opportunities for further expansion and growth in new sectors for the Christeyns UK group.
