‘Let’s keep those little people smiling’: Bierley sandwich shop offers free meals for children in need

A SANDWICH shop in Bierley has vowed to feed struggling families after Marcus Rashford’s failed campaign to get free school meals during holidays until Easter 2021.

Gobbles Sandwich Shop, found on Bierley Lane, said it wanted to “reach out” and provide a meal for children in poverty.

It will be operating a “no questions asked” policy.

The gesture led to a flood of positivity and support on Facebook with some customers describing it as “fantastic” and “an amazing thing to do”.

Writing on its Facebook page, the owner of Gobbles said: “We would like to reach out to anybody struggling to feed their children in the school holidays.

“If you or anybody you may know is struggling to feed your children please please do not hesitate to contact us.

“You can contact us through our page with no questions asked. Please let us know the age of the child so we can make a meal suitable and try our best to help you with anything else you may need for them.

“Don’t feel embarrassed we are here to help, it will go no further and we don’t need to know the details. Let’s just keep those little people smiling.”
