Major business match-making event begins at Yorkshire Games Festival in Bradford

GLOBAL companies are in Bradford today and tomorrow to attend a digital technology event at the popular Yorkshire Games Festival and the National Science and Media Museum.

The city welcomes a range of cutting-edge digital creative companies to the business “speed-dating” event as part of the festival where they will be able to explore new business opportunities.

The aim is to support SMEs, entrepreneurs and other organisations in finding partners for a variety of collaborations such as commercial or licensing agreements, subcontracting, or transfer of know-how, technology or expertise.

Organised by Bradford Council’s Enterprise Europe Network on February 7 and 8, the two-day business matchmaking event, Up Your Game will give Yorkshire companies a unique opportunity to have a series of short, pre-scheduled B2B meetings with creative technology firms.

These will help them establish valuable connections and find out how immersive technology and gamification could benefit their business in terms of efficiency, productivity, growth and profits.

Attendees will be able to meet local immersive technology giants Citu, who in partnership with Leeds Beckett University have designed a zero carbon housing solution to world class standards.

There will also be a opportunity to chat to Leeds-based Cooperative Innovations, who are experts in creating immersive worlds and the technology that drives them.

Local companies also have the chance to speak to officers from business support agencies such as Leeds and Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and the Department for International Trade.

Steve Hartley, the Council’s strategic director of place, said: “Digital and creative technology industries are an important part of Bradford’s economy. This is a great opportunity for some of our most innovative local businesses to come together and connect with other local, national and international companies, learning from each other and finding out about the support that is available to help them to thrive and develop.”

Kathryn Penny, director of the Yorkshire Games Festival, said: “The Yorkshire Games Festival is designed to celebrate innovation, creativity and success in the both the regional and global games industry.”
