MyLahore Catering leads Bradford's success at Britain's Asian Wedding Awards 2019

A TOTAL of eight awards were picked up by Bradford businesses at Britain’s Asian Wedding Awards 2019 which were held on Monday night.

The awards ceremony in Manchester honoured those involved in the growing Asian wedding industry in the North, and followed a similar ceremony in London earlier this month for the South.

The awards seek to celebrate the hard work and commitment of those exceptional suppliers, and thank those who go above and beyond to make someone’s special day the most memorable of their life.

MyLahore Catering was named both the Wedding Caterer of the Year for Yorkshire and was the overall winner too.

It follows the British Asian restaurant chain, which has its flagship restaurant on Great Horton Road, being named the Pakistani Restaurant of the Year at the inaugural English Asian Food Awards last month.

The family-run company, which also has restaurants in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, received two of the 23 awards handed out on the night.

Other winners from Bradford included Dulhan Boutique in White Abbey Road, Manningham, in the Wedding Boutique of the Year for Yorkshire category.

In addition The Bradford Hotel in the city centre was awarded the Wedding Venue of the Year award for Yorkshire.

The award ceremony has been set up to recognise and reward Asian restaurants, takeaways and other food establishments across England.

The event was organised by ethnic consulting and promotions organisation Oceanic Consulting, which is responsible for a number of events, including the Curry Awards, and the British Muslim Awards.

There were 23 award categories presented on the night and more than 80 Bradford firms were among the finalists.

Irfan Younis, CEO of Oceanic Consulting said: “That’s now a wrap on the 3rd Britain’s Asian Wedding Awards for 2019 – we held two wonderful award ceremonies and Chapter 2 held in Manchester was a wonderful night of celebrating and appreciating the finest Northern talent Britain’s Asian Wedding industry has to offer.

“I’d like to congratulate all winners and every finalist from across both chapters – I have enjoyed watching the Asian wedding industry evolve and look forward to seeing what direction the industry takes next; best believe we’ll be back next year with more ground breakers and wedding shakers.”

The Bradford winners in full were: Wedding Boutique of the Year Yorkshire: Dulhan; Wedding Caterer of the Year – Yorkshire and Overall Winner: MyLahore Catering; Wedding Venue of the Year – Yorkshire: The Bradford Hotel; Freelance Make-Up Artist of the Year – Yorkshire: Nida Glamour World; Henna Artist of the Year – Yorkshire: Henna by Sadaf; Groomswear Supplier of the Year: Pakistani Bazaar; and Traditional Jewellers of the Year: Mangla Jewellers.
