New West Yorkshire Bus Alliance will make travel better for people in Bradford

THE West Yorkshire Bus Alliance has been launched to improve services and develop a sustainable bus network in the county.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Arriva, First and Transdev have teamed up to form the alliance to try and deliver more reliable services and move towards a carbon-free service with affordable fares for all.

Three million people across West Yorkshire use the bus to commute to and from work every week, carrying four times as many people as local trains.

Councillor Kim Groves, chair of the WYCA transport committee, said: “It is vital we use this Alliance to ensure the services are attractive not only for existing users but to potential new users who currently travel by car as well as to young people who are the passengers of tomorrow.

“The new West Yorkshire Bus Alliance is about taking our commitment to better bus services to the next level.”

Dwayne Wells, head of commercial at Arriva Yorkshire and Yorkshire Tiger, added: “Buses are so important to the people of West Yorkshire.

“We know that by working together in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and other local bus companies, we can deliver positive changes that will make travelling by bus even better for our existing customers, as well as attracting new bus users, and we can’t wait to get started.”
