Award-winning pet food manufacturer celebrates half a century of success

AN award-winning pet food manufacturer is celebrating a major milestone.

Cobbydog, based in Keighley, is marking 50 years of success in the industry.

Founded in 1976 by brothers-in-law Eddy Horner and Stephen Leigh, the family-run business has been passed down to the next generation, with third generation members now supporting its growth and expansion.

Chris Leigh, Stephen’s son and a director at Cobbydog, expressed pride in the company’s legacy.

He said: “Starting from humble beginnings all those years ago, we are both proud and honoured to continue our family legacy.

“Hitting our 50th anniversary is a monumental milestone for us.

“The work we deliver to feed pets across the country – and even overseas – means the world to us.

“We’re dedicated to providing our customers and their pets with nothing but the best!”

Cobbydog has claimed multiple awards in recent years, including ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at the Pet Industry Federation Awards in 2025 and both the ‘Manufacturing/Engineering Business of the Year’ and the overall ‘Business of the Year’ prizes at the Keighley Business Awards in 2023.

Rachael Leigh, Stephen’s daughter and another director at Cobbydog, said: “We have a passionate, hard-working team that have continued to enhance Cobbydog’s development, so to receive recognition through these prestigious awards has been an amazing achievement.”

The team, which includes family members, long-standing staff, and more recent hires, is known for its dedication and high values around fairness, trust, and commitment.

Matthew Horner, Eddy’s son and a director at Cobbydog, said: “Our team is much wider than just the direct family, we have very long-standing colleagues, some with over 40 years of experience.

“The way that all of us pull-together for the good of the business in genuinely incredible – and we’re confident that our clients consider us to be a trustworthy company.”

Focusing on nutrition and well-being, the firm sources almost 100% of its proteins, vegetables and botanicals from UK-based partners and serves a vast customer network across the country.

The company’s product catalogue continues to grow and has received positive feedback and reviews, including a 4.9/5 rating on Google and Feefo.

Danny Leigh, Stephen’s son and a director at Cobbydog, said: “We continue to grow year-on-year, recently buying a new building just to meet demand for an ever-growing number of online orders.”
