A MARKET celebrating young entrepreneurs is coming to Bradford.
Darley Street Market is set to host its first Young Traders Market in collaboration with the National Market Traders Federation on Saturday, May 23.
From 10am to 4pm, the city centre’s market courtyard will be bustling with young traders, aged 16 to 31, offering a variety of goods.
Among the young traders are Happy Home Studio, known for its minimalist and modern wall art and prints, Lou-Boo Creates, who specialises in handmade and sustainable jewellery, and Squeeze It, offering freshly squeezed juices.
Other stalls include Cute Creations by Sannah, who offers face painting and glitter tattoos, Brownies With Benefits, who sell healthy brownies, body scrubs, and perfume oils, as well as Lily Pusset with her paintings and drawings.
Jesy’s Scrunchies will also be present with handmade creations, and mmmatcha will offer cold matcha drinks.
These young stallholders will also compete for the title of best trader, with the winner getting the chance to trade at regional and national markets.
The judging panel will include Khansa Tufail from Bradford Markets, the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Chris Herd, and Jonny Taplin from Taplin’s Butchers, based at Darley Street Market.
Judging will be based on criteria such as creativity, quality, product knowledge, pricing, promotional branding, and customer relations.
Judging is set to take place at around 2.15pm.
A National Market Traders’ Federation spokesperson said: “Young Traders Markets are pivotal to the industry, revitalising markets across the UK and bringing new ideas into the fold.”
A Bradford Markets spokesperson said: “Young Traders are the future of markets across the country, and we are delighted to welcome them to this special market. Please come along to support these young entrepreneurs.”
The Young Traders Market will coincide with Busk:BD, a two-day busking festival in Bradford, Shipley, Bingley, and Keighley.

In the Darley Street Market Courtyard, music will be provided by Anjaana from 10.30am to 11.30am, and Jake will host a workshop slot from 2pm to 4pm.
There will also be more music in Darley Street Kitchen from 5pm to 7pm with George Martin, plus additional performances on the Sunday.
