A UNIQUE coffee shop and cafe is set to open in Bradford city centre this week.

Jamaica Blue will welcome Bradfordians for the first time this Friday when it officially launches in The Broadway.

The food outlet is opening in the unit between New Look and Accessorize, near the shopping centre’s Market Street entrance.

It will be the first Jamaica Blue to open in the entirety of Yorkshire and the Humber, with 23 franchises already operating in other locations across the country.

The only other Jamaica Blue cafes in the North of England are in the Manchester Arndale shopping centre and Warrington.

Michael Johnson, franchise development executive at Foodco UK, revealed £300,000 has been pumped into the outlet’s opening, and it will create roughly 20 new full and part-time jobs.

He said: “We are delighted to be opening in Bradford this Friday and to be creating new employment opportunities in the area with approximately 20 new full and part-time jobs.”

Mr Johnson added: “£300,000 has been invested in the outlet’s opening, and we look forward to welcoming customers to enjoy our signature coffee and freshly prepared food.”

Jamaica Blue has a simple philosophy: great coffee and food, delivered by a passionate crew of chefs, baristas, and service team members.

With a name inspired by the famous Blue Mountains of Jamaica, the brand is celebrated for its high-quality beans and wholesome dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

These dishes include more traditional offerings, such as Jamaica Blue’s “big brekkie”, as well as choices like “huevos rancheros”, featuring roasted corn Mexicana, diced chorizo, fried eggs, and other ingredients served on toasted focaccia, and chicken souvlaki.

The new food outlet was announced just under a month ago, alongside BOO, which is due to open in the former Taco Bell Unit that has been empty since earlier this summer.

The Broadway confirmed that Jamaica Blue is opening on Friday.

Speaking when Jamaica Blue and BOO were announced as additions to the shopping centre, Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said they marked “the start of an exciting new chapter for The Broadway’s food offering”. 

Jamaica Blue will be open from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Saturday and 9.30am until 5pm on Sundays.
