Videos land celebrating Leeds Road in Bradford as ‘hub with a buzz and a lot of life’

VIDEOS have landed on social media as part of a campaign to celebrate Leeds Road in Bradford.

The Love Leeds Road initiative is underway to highlight the busy road, which runs from the city centre to near the border with Leeds.

The route is home to some of Bradford’s most popular restaurants, cafes and South Asian businesses.

Branding for Love Leeds Road, which includes a logo featuring the postcode BD3 with a heart emblem, was officially unveiled last month – and now the campaign has started posting on its social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Its Facebook page states: “This is Leeds Road… A two mile stretch of bold flavours, independent fashion and Bradford energy.

“Love Leeds Road is a new campaign celebrating the businesses and the people that make it so special.”

Voices on an accompanying video say “Leeds Road is a hub, a curry capital of the country”; “it is the heart of fashion – it is the hub for wedding dresses”; “you’ve got the jewellery shops, you’ve got the accessories”.

Another person says: “You see people come from all over the country.”

In the video, Leeds Road is described as “diverse” with a “buzz” and “a lot of life”.

“We all love Leeds Road,” someone else says.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The Love Leeds Road campaign is being managed by Bradford Council and the contract is being delivered by Bradford-based design agency Out of Place, which specialises in branding.

“The £66,320 contract has been externally funded with money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.”

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s executive member for regeneration, planning and transport, welcomed the campaign.

He said: “Leeds Road is one of Bradford’s unsung success stories and I’m delighted this new branding and campaign shines a spotlight on such a vibrant community.

“Businesses on Leeds Road attract people from across the north and many visitors make a day of it exploring the shops and enjoying the restaurants and eateries.

“It is one of the most diverse and vibrant streets in Bradford and this new campaign will help boost the economy of the area further, ahead of some exciting events later in the year.”
