Bradford Council launches new planning documents for public consultation

Bradford Council is seeking public input for two important planning documents.

Consultations on two draft supplementary planning documents (SPDs) that will shape future development across the district have been launched.

The first, a Shopfront Design Guide, offers updated guidance on the design of shopfronts, signage, and security features to support business owners in developing proposals and assist planning officers in decision-making.

The second draft document is a Landscape Character Assessment, which evaluates the various landscape types and areas within Bradford to inform future planning.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s executive member for regeneration, planning, and transport, said: “These documents help us work with developers and planners to guide new developments across the district and ensure anything that is planned protects or enhances the character and local distinctiveness of the landscape and our high streets.”

The public can view the draft SPDs and related materials on the council’s website.

Feedback can be submitted via the online consultation platform or by completing a comments form.

Forms can be returned by email to planning.policy@bradford.gov.uk or by post to the Local Plan Team at Bradford Council.

The consultation period will remain open until 5pm on Friday, December 12.
