BRADFORD restaurants have won big at the English Curry Awards 2023.
The awards are now in their 12th year and are a celebration of the best curry houses and chefs across the country.
Two Bradford restaurants picked up gongs – International, with restaurants on Morley Street and Sticker Lane, was named ‘Best of Bradford’, while Future Balti in Wibsey won the Takeaway and Home Delivery of the Year award.
Safeer Khan, owner of International Restaurant, said: “It’s great, obviously over the last few years we have been building the brand.
“We opened the second branch on Sticker Lane, nine months ago and we’ve excelled.
“Since my dad retired in 2019 we’ve taken International Restaurant to the next level.
“We’ve won two awards in the last few months, we won Best Restaurant in Bradford at the Bradford Curry Awards and now at the English Curry Awards.
“It shows that when you put hard work in you get results and we’re really excelling.”
Parmars Indian Restaurant & Bar in Liversedge won the Curry Restaurant of the Year for Yorkshire and the Humber.
The award ceremony took place on Monday (August 14) at The Holiday Inn in Birmingham City Centre, with more than 400 guests in attendance.
The prestigious event recognised and celebrated the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the English curry industry.
Categories included Chef of the Year, Voter’s Best Choice Restaurant of the Year, Curry King or Queen, and Curry Restaurant of the Year.
Award organisers said the event celebrated “England’s rich and diverse curry culture and encourages the continued growth and evolution of the industry – the winners have distinguished themselves with their exceptional quality, innovation, and consistency in offering a truly memorable dining experience”.
A spokesperson said it was “an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations”.
They added: “We have celebrated the finest in the English curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.
“The curry industry is a vital part of our culture, and these awards recognised the exceptional talents of the individuals and businesses that make it so special.
