Bradford customers shopping at a supermarket giant are being urged to support a nationwide food collection.
Tesco’s 13th annual Winter Food Collection is now underway, with donations supporting food banks in the Trussell community and the food redistribution charity FareShare, both of which expect high demand this winter.
The collection runs in Tesco Express stores until November 29, and in larger stores from November 27 to 29.
Ashwin Prasad, chief executive of Tesco UK, said: “With more families than ever expected to need help with essentials this winter, along with our partners, we are encouraging customers to donate whatever they can to our Winter Food Collection.”
Matthew Van Duyvenbode, co-chief executive at Trussell, added: “With a food parcel being given out every 10 seconds this winter, we know far too many people will be facing hunger and hardship during the festive season.”
Last year, donations from Tesco customers provided the equivalent of 1.9 million meals.
