The University of Bradford’s student social area, which underwent a £2 million renovation, has been shortlisted for a national award.
The university’s Student Central, which reopened in September 2024 following a major refurbishment, is a finalist in the hospitality category of the Fit Out Awards UK 2025.
The project is competing for the title of Fit Out Project of the Year – Hospitality, with the ceremony taking place at the Park Plaza London Riverbank on Thursday, September 11.
Allison Thickett, hospitality and retail manager at the University of Bradford, said: “This project was all about creating a vibrant, welcoming environment where students can relax, socialise and feel at home.
“Being shortlisted is a real honour and reflects the passion, creativity and hard work of everyone involved.
“It also puts the University of Bradford on the map alongside some major players, showing that we can deliver outstanding, sector-leading spaces that rival the very best.”
Student Central is in the running alongside venues including Birmingham City Football Club, ARC Cinema in Preston, and Grand Assembly in Buckinghamshire.
The space now includes study zones, a variety of food and drink offerings, a garden area, and a games zone.
It also features a dedicated bar and a large screen for sports events.
