Businesses in Bradford risk losing out on thousands of pounds

Businesses across Bradford risk missing out on thousands of pounds in unclaimed tax relief.

Julie Gunnell, associate director of payroll growth at Azets, has warned that larger employers in Bradford could be losing out by not claiming the Employment Allowance, which allows eligible businesses to reduce their annual National Insurance liability by up to £10,500.

Ms Gunnell said: “Firms in Bradford could be leaving more than £10,000 on the table by not actively claiming what they’re entitled to.”

From April this year, employers with more than £100,000 in National Insurance liabilities became eligible for the allowance, following the removal of a previous cap.

Ms Gunnell added: “This allowance has become even more valuable since employer NI rates were increased to 15 per cent and the cap preventing employers with over £100,000 in NI liabilities from claiming was removed – but businesses can’t benefit from it if they don’t take action.”
