City of Culture company ‘takes possession’ of empty Bradford building

THE company behind Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture has revealed it has “taken possession of” an empty building to host events as part of next year’s celebrations.

25 October 2024

Bradford Culture Company Ltd (BCC) said the building “requires renovation and fit out to support delivery of this exciting programme of events”.

It has now launched a tender process to find a building contractor to carry out this work, which has a budget “in excess of £50,000”, according to BCC.

The Telegraph & Argus asked BCC for the address of the building it had taken possession of – but was told this information could not be made public at this stage

A request for proposals notice on BCC’s website said: “BCC Ltd has taken possession of a city centre building which requires renovation and fit out to support delivery of this exciting programme of events.

“BCC, operating as Bradford 2025 (the company), is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified building contractor (the provider) with specific expertise in capital and building projects.

“The provider will work under the supervision of the principal contractor, and alongside appointed mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors.

“BCC would like to invite interested providers to tender for this business.”

The closing date for applications is October 31.

The contract length runs from November until February 2025.
