Company looking to expand as milestone is celebrated

A business is celebrating a milestone and is looking at further expansion.

Control Technology UK Ltd, based in North Street, Keighley, is marking its 25th anniversary.

The company, which specialises in the supply and installation of energy management systems to businesses and industrial premises, began carrying out projects in the summer of 2000.

Work ranged from upgrading heating systems to installing energy-efficient cooling equipment.

Customers locally included well-known firms such as Harrison Clough, Peter Black’s, Kone, NSF, Teconnex, Gesipa and Landis.

Control Technology founder and director, Henry Pettinger, says: “As the business grew, we extended servicing to the rest of Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands, with the limited company being established in 2003.

“The business achieved ISO9001 accreditation in 2015, and then SafeContractor registration the following year.”

The company now has a team of 15, all self-employed, and a turnover this year of £500,000.

“I’m delighted we’ve reached this milestone and the business is continuing to service factories – both locally and further afield – with GasSafe and F-Gas works,” says Henry. “Plus, we’re looking to expand into solar and other areas of energy efficiency.

“As a result of the success of the business, we have not only been able to provide employment, but also financial support to many local ventures.”

Initiatives supported by Control Technology range from parkrun, a boxing club and CLiKS – Christian Links in Keighley Schools – to floral displays in the town.

The company is also a partner of Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

And its backing for good causes extends across the globe. The business supports an orphanage in Zimbabwe.

Links were formed several years ago, since when the company’s backing has included the provision of a desperately-needed new roof and a kitchen.

Henry wasn’t able to visit the orphanage during the pandemic, but he took the opportunity whilst attending a business conference in Zimbabwe in October, 2023.

He says: “The buildings are in the middle of a beautiful but poor rural area, approximately 100 kilometres from Harare.

“There were over 70 children when I was there, with a healthy, homemade meal being provided by volunteers.

“The centre had a vibrant feel about it and the children were happy and thankful for the smallest of items.

“There’s an amazing team of dedicated workers.”
