IK Collections tailor donates wildflower seeds to Royal Infirmary

A Bradford tailor has donated wildflower seeds to his local hospital.

Imran Khan, of IK Collections, Westgate, visited Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) earlier this week to hand over two large boxes of seeds to chief executive Mel Pickup and chief gardener Chris Clarke.

Mr Khan donated the gifts “in honour of Eid and to celebrate the safe arrival of my firstborn, who was safely delivered at the BRI this week.”

He continued: “It’s important for people’s mental health that, when they come to hospital, patients and staff see the brightly-coloured flowers.”

Ms Pickup thanked Mr Khan for his kind gift and added: “A big thank you to you, Imran, for donating and getting involved in planting today.

“We know how much our grounds and gardens are appreciated by our colleagues and patients and their families, and these wildflowers will be a lovely addition.”

Mr Clarke commented: “It’s great to receive Imran’s donation – the flowers were instantly sown on two flowerbeds around the BRI’s rainbow entrance.

“You can’t underestimate the power of nature on our patients’ and colleagues’ wellbeing.”

The trust has a number of wellbeing and reflection gardens across the BRI, St Luke’s Hospital, and Westwood Park Community Hospital, which offer space to relax and reflect.
