Investing in Communities

GiveBradford Investing Millions into Communities across the District.

Bradford District has a proud tradition of supporting communities and caring for our most vulnerable. Nowadays, philanthropy is designed to complement our public sector, to provide opportunities for everyone. Launched in 2017 to do just that, GiveBradford has distributed over £3 million in grants to Community Organisations across the District, so they can create opportunities for people to be Healthy and Well, Learn, Work and Be Financially Well, Thrive and Be Safe and Experience and Play.

Working hard to bring investment into Bradford through collaboration with local, regional and national funders, strategic partners and businesses, and by working closely with our Community Organisations, GiveBradford has listened and learned the enduring and emerging challenges facing our diverse communities, and the opportunities and support they need to build resilience and thrive in the future.

Emergency response, resilience and business as usual work during the Covid-19 crisis meant GiveBradford have distributed nearly £1.2m in the last 6 months, more than the entire previous year.

The GiveBradford Resilience Fund 2020 has supported Community Organisations in adapting their operating models, re-imagining funding streams and surviving longer-term. The fund has provided over £xx in grants to deliver work in communities, but also crucially covers the cost of the time and space needed by organisations to plan for the future.

The GiveBradford Healthy Holidays Programme continues to support thousands of schoolchildren during lockdown and in the school holidays, by providing activities along with food to tackle holiday hunger. As well as dealing with unhealthy and under-eating, improving engagement within school and supporting families around parenting, budgeting and language skills, this work is bringing diverse communities together.

Other programmes supporting thousands of people each year, all managed by GiveBradford include: BG Campbell Trust, Bradford Youth Fund, Building a Stronger Britain Together, Community Partnering Fund, #iWill Youth Social Action Fund, Go Higher West Yorkshire, Henry Smith Charity, High Sheriff of West Yorkshire Fund, Keighley Community Health Grants, Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation Fund, Manjit Wolstenholme Fund, Pears Youth Fund, Provident Social Impact Fund and the Sir Ken and Lady Morrison Fund.

One of the best ways to do good business in Bradford is to invest in the city’s communities.  Donors and partners to GiveBradford are helping to keep the most vulnerable supported and safe.
