A FUNERAL director in Keighley is supporting community projects.
Melia Powell Funeral Service has launched the third round of its Community Assistance Programme after donating hundreds of pounds to causes locally.
In the most recent funding round, the scheme supported Hainworth Wood Community Centre, a volunteer-run hub serving Keighley East, Hainworth Wood and Spring Bank.
The centre will use the funds to continue offering a popular seated exercise class, which was at risk of closure due to a lack of funding.
Rachel Abbey, funeral arranger at Melia Powell, said: “The wonderful thing about the Community Assistance Programme is the variety of causes it has enabled us to support.
“From health projects to creative initiatives, each organisation is working hard to improve lives, often on very limited budgets.
“We’re delighted to have helped them and are now welcoming applications for our final funding cycle.
“We’d encourage charities or community groups that think they could benefit to get in touch.”
Earlier this year, the programme also supported Missing Peace Wellbeing and Support and Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.
The latest funding round offers £1,400 to projects within six miles of Melia Powell’s funeral homes.
