Special bereavement trees are offering families across Yorkshire a place to remember loved ones during the festive season.
Co-op funeral homes across the region, including Horsforth, Heckmondwike, Coopers and Holdsworth, have unveiled the trees as part of a seasonal support scheme to help those who have lost loved ones.
The initiative comes after research revealed that 58 per cent of bereaved individuals find events like Christmas particularly difficult.
Tim Bloomer, director of regional operations at Co-op Funeralcare, said: “For those who have experienced a bereavement, Christmas can bring memories back to the surface and make the absence of a loved one feel even more profound.
“That’s why we’ve started the bereavement tree initiative, providing a comforting space for reflection and togetherness.”
The trees invite members of the community to place a picture, message or ornament in memory of someone they have lost.
They also offer a space for reflection and remembrance, while also encouraging conversation with the Co-op Funeralcare team.
