A NATIONAL specialist retail chain will be opening a new branch in Bradford on Saturday.

Angling Direct will open its doors at the Wakefield Road Trade Park at 8am with a ribbon- cutting, opening day deals and special guests.

It will be the first branch of the fishing equipment retailer to open in Bradford – the nearest branch is currently in Leeds.

The company said: “With several one-off deals, competitions and special guests, this grand opening is not one to be missed.

“Situated literally a stone’s throw from the River Aire, the store is based in a true hub of fishing.”

Work is also well underway on a new retail park that will back onto Wakefield Road Trade Park.

Plans to build a restaurant and four shops on the former site of The Gallopers pub on Wakefield Road were approved in May 2020.

Although the site was cleared several months ago, construction work on the prominent site has only recently resumed.
