Thousands of pounds flowing as city centres gift card hits milestone

A gift card scheme is keeping thousands of pounds circulating in Bradford’s economy.

The Bradford City Centre Gift Card has now topped £200,000 in sales since its launch in late 2021 by Bradford BID.

The BID says the scheme is not only supporting high street names but also independent retailers.

Nikki Chadburn, business communications manager at Bradford BID, said: “Smashing £210,000 worth of sales is a fantastic achievement for Bradford.

“Every card purchased is a direct investment in our city centre, helping our brilliant local traders thrive.”

The card can be spent at more than 120 shops, restaurants, bars, and attractions in Bradford’s city centre.

The card is gaining momentum as a Christmas gift, with rising numbers of residents and visitors choosing it as a way to support the city.

Ms Chadburn added: “It’s especially heartening to see more people choosing local gifting this Christmas, it’s a win-win for shoppers and businesses alike.

“Businesses are increasingly realising that the gift card isn’t just a great reward for staff, it’s also a way to give back to the community.”

Corporate sales are also on the rise, as employers use the card to reward staff while supporting Bradford’s retail and hospitality sectors.
