Town centre industrial development nearing completion

A MAJOR town centre development that has transformed a long derelict site is nearing completion.

Plans for an industrial development on the old Hattersley’s site in Keighley were first approved in late 2021.

The development would see four new industrial units built on the former site of George Hattersley & Sons – a world famous loom manufacturer that was based in the town.

It will create 1,400 square foot of industrial space in the town centre.

Work on the site, between Church Street and Beck Street, is nearing completion, and applicants Altaf Holdings LTD have submitted a number of documents to Bradford Council that need to be signed off before the site is officially completed.

These include details of the pedestrian access to the site and a noise management plan for the development.

Other aspects of the development, including lighting and landscaping plans for the site, have already been signed off by Council planning officers.

Before the plans were submitted in 2020 there had been calls for something to be done with the prime piece of land, in the Keighley Conservation Area, for years.
