Incommunities pledges support for customers during cost of living crisis

Social housing landlord, Incommunities, is pledging to support customers through the difficult winter ahead and the national cost of living crisis.  The organisation is committing to helping customers navigate the cost-of-living crisis and, in recognising the need to strengthen their current support package, has launched a new campaign aimed at ‘Lightening the Load’.

Since 2020, Incommunities’ specialist money and support service, Money Matters, has been proactive in responding to the needs of customers facing genuine hardship in a challenging economic environment, with many customers now having to make the difficult decision between eating and heating.

This year alone, 1,358 households have been supported by specialist Money Matters Officers and the team have been able to issue 165 food bank and shopping vouchers and 125 energy top ups.

Chief executive, Rachael Dennis said “We know that our customers are worried about rising costs and we want them to know that we are here to help. Our Lightening the Load campaign aims to reach those who need help with heating, shopping and warm accessories, and we urge any customers who need support to get in touch.

“We may also be able to assist with obtaining household items such as slow-cookers and kettles to ensure customers are able to enjoy a hot meal and a warm drink throughout the colder months.  We will do everything possible to help our customers during this difficult time.”

The support is accessible to all Incommunities customers and they will be able access energy top-ups, shopping help, extra-warm duvets and blankets, brand-new winter coats and boots, hats and scarves, hot water bottles and draft excluders.

The social housing landlord pledges to play an important role in improving customers’ lives within the Bradford District and surrounding areas in the coming months. Throughout winter, teams will be working across the District in community centres in order to provide support on a drop-in basis.

Incommunities are also offering winter warmth packs to customers struggling to stay warm this winter.  One customer said “If you need help, just ask.  Money Matters does help and care. I am quite a shy person but with Money Matters on your side, things do and will get done.”
