WORKERS are putting the finishing touches to the refurbishment of a WH Smith store.

For more than a week, motorists using Welcome Break’s Hartshead Moor services, between Brighouse and Chain Bar, have been arriving to find the store, on the westbound carriageway, shut.

Boards had been put up across the entire frontage of the shop unit, with a sign saying: “Sorry, we’re closed. Our nearest WH Smith is just a short walk over the bridge.”

However, on Friday, the refurbishment was nearing completion ahead of the branch’s reopening.

The boards had been removed and the revamped store now includes sections for Food to Go, Cold Drinks and Beer and Wine.
