More than 500 jobs at risk following a ‘major contract loss’

Hundreds of jobs are at risk across the UK following a major contract loss.

More than 500 workers at five ABN animal feed sites, including Yorkshire, face possible redundancies after the company lost a contract to supply 2 Ag (formerly 2 Sisters).

Unite, the union which has criticised ABN, part of Associated British Foods, for failing to communicate clearly with employees during the uncertainty.

Sharon Graham, general secretary of Unite, said: “ABN is treating its workers with contempt.

“Dedicated workers should not be treated in this manner.

“ABN must come clean and tell workers what the future holds.”

In November, the union learned the full extent of the situation, with affected employees including mill operatives, drivers, and engineers.
