Former detective in spotlight with major career change and clients including stars

A former detective turned entrepreneur is now running a near-£250,000 annual turnover photo booth business.

Jennifer Yules, from West Yorkshire, spent 18 years investigating serious crimes and protecting vulnerable people as a detective before launching Viva La Booth, a luxury photo booth company, just four years ago.

Her career change will take her to the Brit Awards 2026 at Manchester’s Co-op Live this weekend, where her brand will support one of the UK’s biggest nights in music.

Jennifer said: “I genuinely miss the job, the serious investigations, the incredible people I worked alongside, the sense that what you did every day really mattered.

“That never leaves you.

“But having complete control over what I build, who I work with, and how I spend my time with my children—that is something I could never put a price on.

“I do not work any less hard.

“I just work for myself now.”

Since launching Viva La Booth in 2022, Jennifer has grown the business to a near-£250,000 annual turnover with a 40% profit margin.

The company has become a trusted name among high-end event planners, venues, and well-known lifestyle brands.

She said the skills developed during her police career—reading people, staying calm under pressure, attention to detail, and clear communication—have proved invaluable in her entrepreneurial journey.

While Viva La Booth has achieved national success, Jennifer said the business remains rooted in community values.

One of the highlights of her year is supporting the Dewsbury Cares Christmas Day event, where she provides a photo booth free of charge for some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

Jennifer said: “It is the most special day in my diary.

“Those smiles, those moments, that is what this business is really about.”

She said every part of Viva La Booth’s growth has been earned through consistency and hard work.

Jennifer said: “People might look at Viva La Booth and see a photo booth company.

“What I see is at least four years of relentless hard work, every relationship built from scratch.

“The Brit Awards, Co-op Live, Cheltenham, the 1000’s of weddings these are the result of all of that.

“My work-life balance now is everything to me.
