Aqua Consultants secure place on Commercial Consultant framework at major UK water utility group

Bradford based Aqua Consultants (Aqua), a professional services firm for water, energy and environmental sectors, is one of five new appointments to Northumbrian Water Group’s (NWG) consultancy frameworks supporting the delivery of future asset investment programmes. They will share capability with Turner & Townsend and Long O’Donnell Associates as NWG’s strategic commercial partners.

Aqua has supported NWG for 15 years and specialise in the provision of strategic advice and support on major programmes. In collaboration with all partners, Aqua will focus reshaping how NWG delivers its capital investment projects, co-creating a new-look capital delivery process and looking for improvements in the management of infrastructure delivery.

Paul Massey, Director of Commercial Services at Aqua, said of the award: “This appointment is a significant success for the company and expands our involvement in the major capital programmes of UK water utilities. We look forward to sharing capability with the other partners as we assess the complete life cycle of assets to ensure smarter spending and detailed, risk-based planning for the long-term. We are also enthusiastic about the potential to help NWG reduce carbon output through nature-based solutions for water and wastewater treatment.

Aqua’s vision is ‘Growth through shared capability’ which this framework perfectly aligns with. We are excited by the opportunity to support NWG with their ambitious plans and co-creating a promising future for the company and their customers.”

Monisha Gower, NWG’s Assets Director commented: “Monisha Gower, Assets Director, said: “We want to really challenge ourselves as we look to the future of our capital plan and processes, recognising the need to evolve how we do business to deliver the best possible value for our customers in these challenging times. We also see a huge opportunity for greater sustainability and reduced carbon in our asset base by looking at our business through a TOTEX lens.

“While we have already made steps towards these goals, the appointment of our strategic and commercial partners brings expertise and experience to the table, and will really help shape the future of our asset management, investment planning and delivery.

“We look forward to working with them to co-create this exciting future.”

The appointment was made following a competitive tender process and sees Aqua secure an 8-year framework with NWG. Aqua will now work alongside NWG and the other partners to prepare and mobilise for the start of this new framework on 1st April, 2023.
