Coca-Cola funds £2.5m work to protect West Yorkshire rivers

A drinks company known around the world is investing millions in work to protect rivers and boost water resilience.

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), The Coca-Cola Company, and the Calder Rivers Trust have announced a £2.55 million, three-year contract to continue water replenishment projects across West Yorkshire.

The scheme forms part of CCEP’s commitment to return at least 100 per cent of the water used in its finished drinks to nature and communities by 2030.

Sam Jones, director of sustainability and policy at CCEP GB, said: “Water is fundamental to our business, from the ingredients we source to the drinks we produce, so we take our responsibility to protect it seriously.

“Our partnership with Calder Rivers Trust has proven that working with local communities delivers measurable results.”

The programme will focus on improving water quality, flood resilience, and biodiversity at multiple sites across Calderdale, Kirklees, and Wakefield.

“This will support healthier rivers, stronger habitats, and wider benefits for the communities and wildlife that depend on them.”
