SOUTH Asian women entrepreneurs took centre stage at a vibrant community event.
More than 300 people attended the Boishakhi Mela in Manningham, which celebrated culture and commerce while boosting female empowerment.
The event, organised by BEAP Community Partnership, featured 14 South Asian women who showcased and sold their products in a lively marketplace environment.
Shahidur Rahman, executive director at BEAP, said: “The Boishakhi Mela is more than just a celebration; it is a vital platform for our community to come together.
“What we saw today was just the beginning.
“We want to provide a consistent pathway for women to enter the business world by developing specialized workshops that ensure the talent in our community has the professional support it needs to thrive sustainably.”
The Mela featured traditional activities, jewellery, fashion, and authentic cuisine, all presented by women-led enterprises.
Following the event’s success, BEAP plans to launch a series of workshops to support women throughout the business journey, from concept to marketing.
