West Yorkshire builders share favourite brew and biscuit on National Tea Day

West Yorkshire builders have shared their top brew and best biscuit for dunking for a national celebration.

In a survey of site workers from Barratt and David Wilson Homes, coffee was named the drink of choice by 58 per cent of those polled, compared to just 28 per cent who preferred tea.

The survey also asked about favourite biscuits for dunking, with chocolate Hobnobs coming out on top with 31 per cent of the vote, narrowly beating chocolate digestives at 26 per cent.

Other popular options included shortbread, rich tea, and cookies.

The findings come amid National Tea Day, which took place on Tuesday, April 21.

Gavin Birch, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, said: “When important decisions need to be made, there’s no better time for a nice, hot cuppa.

“It’s not a surprise to see coffee named the beverage of choice, alongside top-tier dunkers Hobnob and Digestive.

“Whatever your drinking preference, we are always ready to put the kettle on for our customers looking for their first or next home and welcome anyone interested to visit our sales advisers for a cuppa and a chat.”

A majority of 61 per cent said they preferred their drinks without sugar, and a clear consensus emerged on how to make the perfect cup – 87 per cent agreed that hot water should go in before the milk.

While tea and coffee remain the firm favourites, 14 per cent said they preferred alternative drinks like hot chocolate, fruit tea, or herbal blends.
