A family business in West Yorkshire has earned a trio of top honours at a regional awards ceremony.

Howarths, based in Cleckheaton, took home three awards at the Yorkshire and Humberside Family Business Awards, including the title of Family Business of the Year 2025.

The consultancy, which offers legal, safety, and growth services, also won the Purpose Driven and Employee Excellence awards.

Andy Howarth, who founded the business in 2003 with his wife Helen, said: “When it was time for me to hand over the reins to my son Gavin, and the new team of shareholders, I put my passion into creating Howarths Foundation, which helps the hidden homeless and is supported in part by the Howarths business.

“I cannot begin to tell you how much this receiving the Purpose Driven accolade means to our small but hard-working team – it’s very special.”

The Employee Excellence award was presented to Tracey Hopkins, who began her career at Howarths 19 years ago and has risen to become a co-owner.

She said: “This award honestly feels less like it’s mine and more like a symbol of the incredible teamwork, culture, and support within our business.

“You don’t go from Office Junior to Co-Owner without the right people and the right environment and I’ve been lucky enough to have the very best around me.”

Gavin Howarth, CEO, added: “It’s an incredible feeling to pick up an award, but this one truly reflects our approach to tackling everything we do with hard work, heart and grit.

“It is testament to the foundations that my mum and dad set but also to the exceptional team of people that are part of our business.

“They operate every day with a genuine passion for everything that they do.

“This award was for each and every one of them, thank you.”

The awards ceremony took place on Friday, November 21 at The Royal Armouries in Leeds and was attended by more than 300 guests.
