Award-winning restaurant gets £100,000-plus refurbishment

A CHERRY tree forms the centrepiece of a refurbished restaurant.

The authentic tree, complete with ‘blossom’, has been created as part of a £100,000-plus refurb at Shimla Spice in Keighley.

The feature is designed to pay homage to Keighley’s Town Hall Square, well known for its cherry blossom displays.

“We wanted to bring that natural beauty indoors and create something truly special for our guests,” says Faisal Hussain, manager of the multi-award-winning South Street restaurant.

The extensive makeover also includes new marble and tile flooring, marble-top tables and custom-made wall and ceiling panels.

There is a new-look bar, and the toilets have been fully renovated using Italian marble for the walls and floor, and bespoke sinks provided.

Faisal drew up the designs with his father Basharat Hussain and uncles Mohammed Ayub and Mahmood Akhtar, who founded the restaurant 27 years ago.

“Our main focus as one of Keighley’s prominent businesses is to attract more people to the town, and put Keighley on the map,” says Faisal.
