Social housing landlord Incommunities welcomed representatives from community groups across Bradford at a collective thank you event to recognise their hard work providing support to communities throughout Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.

Attendees at the event included representatives from the Sue Belcher Community Centre, Millside Community Centre, Scholemoor Beacon, Windhill Community Centre, Queensbury Community Programme, Cottingley Community Centre and more. Local community centres and initiatives have provided valuable services such as delivering food parcels, collecting shopping and prescriptions and hosting wellbeing and mental health support sessions to residents across the Bradford district.

Pam Chahal-Royal, Customer Resilience Officer, Incommunities said: “The thank you event was held to show our gratitude for all of the support and essential services delivered to our customers and local communities. Centre managers and their teams go over and above the call of duty to help residents stay safe and well, this small token of appreciation was held to recognise their dedication and help show how valued they are.”

Susan Moreland of Scholemoor Beacon who was recognised at the event, said: “Throughout lockdown and beyond we have provided food parcels and hot packed lunches, held virtual cooking sessions, collected shopping, distributed activity packs for children and checked in on people. It was heartening to join the appreciation event and celebrate the work of community groups and volunteers.”
