New housing scheme proving popular with buyers as residents set to move in this year

A KEIGHLEY building company has won high praise for a new housing development which is proving hugely popular.

Nearly half the properties on the Ashlands Garth scheme, built by RN Wooler and Co, have already been reserved or sold.

And a new show home has just opened.

The development – at Ilkley – comprises 14 semi-detached houses, in a mixture of two, three and four-bed.

Just eight properties are currently unsold.

The scheme is being marketed by the new homes division of estate agent Dacre, Son & Hartley – which has offices across the region, including at North Street, Keighley.

Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, says: “Exceptional build quality, high-specification finishes and spacious layouts characterise every property at this exclusive development.

“Ashlands Garth occupies an excellent position just off the A65 – within easy walking distance of Ilkley town centre and close to Ashlands Primary School. It’s also only minutes from scenic riverside walks along the River Wharfe, Ilkley’s rugby and cricket clubs, the pool and lido, Riverside Gardens and the start of the Dales Way.

“The combination of a prime location and a small-scale development by a highly-respected local company with a strong track record has driven exceptional interest, with four properties now sold and a further two dwellings reserved.

“The launch of the show home, which is open to view by appointment, gives buyers a real sense of the craftsmanship and design on offer.

“The homes – which will be ready to move into from mid-December – feature generous open-plan kitchen and dining areas, landscaped gardens and off-street parking, and some have integral garages.”

RN Wooler and Co, based in Lawkholme Lane, is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary.

The company was founded by Norman and Margaret Wooler.

Its first residential project was the conversion of the baptist chapel at Newsholme into apartments, in 1986.

And two years later the firm built its first housing development, at Ridgeway Mount in Keighley.

Other milestones have included the construction of Wooler’s Florence House headquarters in 1993, with a specialist joinery workshop being added four years later.

Florence House was extended in 2007 to accommodate increased staff and associated resources, and there was further expansion in 2018 when Clarkson House was opened.

Since its foundation the company has grown steadily, into a multi-million-pound business with a directly-employed workforce totalling nearly 300.

Major projects for the firm have included the transformation of the former Odeon building into Bradford Live, and work on the new Darley Street Market.
