ADMINISTRATORS have confirmed Pizza Hut’s Bradford city centre restaurant and four other branches in West Yorkshire will permanently close – after the company collapsed into administration.
DC London Pie Limited, which operates Pizza Hut’s UK outlets, appointed FTI Consulting as administrators on Monday.
In total, 68 Pizza Hut restaurants and 11 delivery sites will shut for good as part of a restructuring which will put 1,210 workers at risk of redundancy.
Bradford city centre branch shut
On Google yesterday, it said Bradford’s Leisure Exchange, Vicar Lane, branch was “temporarily closed”.
It has been confirmed today that it will permanently shut, as well as outlets in Huddersfield, Leeds Colton Mill, Leeds Kirkstall Road and Leeds White Rose.
Amid these closures, Pizza Hut’s global owner Yum! Brands has agreed to save 64 UK restaurants – preserving 1,276 jobs.
Nicolas Burquier, managing director of Pizza Hut Europe and Canada, said yesterday: “This targeted acquisition aims to safeguard our guest experience and protect jobs where possible.
“Our immediate priority is operational continuity at the acquired locations and supporting colleagues through the transition.”
The administration comes around six weeks after HMRC filed a winding up petition against DC London Pie.
DC London Pie was the company formed after Directional Capital, which operated franchises in Sweden and Denmark, snapped up 139 UK restaurants from the previous UK franchisee Heart with Smart Limited in January of this year.
