The Yorkshire Clinic in Bingley, West Yorkshire, has been rated outstanding overall and for its surgery services by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in April.
The independent hospital, operated by Ramsay Health Care UK, serves both NHS and private patients and offers outpatient, diagnostic imaging, and surgical services.
The CQC focused solely on surgery during this inspection, upgrading the hospital’s overall and surgery ratings from good to outstanding for being effective, caring, and well-led.
Linda Hirst, CQC deputy director of operations in the north, said: “At The Yorkshire Clinic, we found surgery services providing exemplary care to people.
“Kind and compassionate staff demonstrated outstanding commitment to delivering person-centred care that met people’s unique needs and preferences.
“It was encouraging to hear that the service had introduced pre-theatre visits for people, to support and reassure them prior to surgery.
“We also saw remarkable examples of personalised care, including staff wearing themed theatre hats for someone who loved Star Wars to help them feel more relaxed, and support a deaf person by using an interpreter as well as video technology.”
The CQC found that senior leaders investigated incidents thoroughly, shared learning both internally and externally, and ensured the hospital was well-staffed and equipped.
