Bradford market to host festive Christingle-making workshop this weekend

A festive workshop is bringing a seasonal tradition to life in Bradford.

Taking place at Darley Street Market, the free Christingle-making event will be held in the market’s courtyard under the heated umbrellas on Saturday, November 29.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the workshop invites families and individuals to create their own Christingles, a traditional symbol used in Christian celebrations during Advent.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s executive member for regeneration, planning and transport, said: “Our Markets Team are putting on a fantastic array of events and activities to help people celebrate Christmas.

“Darley Street Market is all trimmed up, and the Christmas tree is sparkling and this Christingle workshop is a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by getting ready for Advent.

“As well as joining in the workshop come and explore the three levels of the Darley Street Market, pick up some Christmas gifts and festive food, or treat yourself to a meal at the Street Kitchen.”

All materials will be provided, with oranges supplied by the council’s St James Wholesale Market and sweets from Fruit World / Sweet World, which can be found in the Fresh Food Hall at Darley Street Market.

The event is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
