Family-run business nominated for independent Yorkshire Choice Award

A care group has been nominated for a prestigious regional business award in Yorkshire.

Spellman Care has been nominated for Independent Business of the Year at the 2026 Yorkshire Choice Awards, which recognises businesses that make a difference in their communities through public votes.

Steven Spellman, director of Spellman Care, said: “We are incredibly proud to have been nominated for Independent Business of the Year.

“For almost 36 years, our mission has been to provide an outstanding quality of care as a family-run, independent provider.

“Being recognised by this nomination at the Yorkshire Choice Awards is a testament to our dedicated team, who live and breathe our commitment to excellence every single day.”

Spellman Care was founded in 1990 with the opening of Steeton Court Nursing Home and has since expanded to operate four care homes.

These include Ghyll Royd Care Home, Craven Nursing Home, and Springbank Care Home.

The Yorkshire Choice Awards will be decided by public vote, and supporters are encouraged to cast their vote through the official awards website.
