A multi-million pound commercial development has been unveiled.
The Bostock Building, a £4 million project at Springfield Mills, offers eight modern hybrid commercial units across two floors, designed to meet growing demand for flexible workspace in the area.
The scheme is the first of its kind on the site in 70 years.
Named in honour of the late John Bostock, former managing director and chairman of Gaunts Ltd, the building was officially opened on Tuesday by his widow, Christine Bostock.
Chris Pratt, Gaunts board director and the man who succeeded Mr Bostock as MD in 2012, said: “It’s great to see this exciting new project come to fruition from its conception to completion and we’re really pleased with the result.
“The collaboration has worked well between ourselves and the Yorkshire-based companies we appointed; mainly OGL Construction, Shelby Group and Architects Bowman Riley, and we feel it meets the growing need for flexibility, light and space from expanding local and regional businesses.”
More than 50 guests attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including members of the Bostock family, Gaunts team, board directors, shareholders, and representatives from project partners OGL Construction, Bowman Riley, and Shelby Group.
Councillors, business owners and current tenants from the mill also joined the celebration.
Attendees were given tours of two finished units and learned more about the development while enjoying afternoon tea.
John Bostock’s daughter, Ginny Lowndes, said: “We are touched and delighted as a family that the company has decided to name the new development after my father.
“I am still a member of the board so I am personally also very proud that his name will continue through this exciting new venture as his legacy for all the brilliant work he did for the business and for the local community for the people he looked after.”
Paul Curson, managing director of Gaunts, said the units will be ready for occupancy soon.

He said: “Once the internal works are completed next month, they will be available to let and we are already receiving interest from a number of companies, so we would encourage those wanting more information about these high quality units, to contact us as soon as possible.”
