YORKSHIRE Water is delivering a water safety education programme.
The sessions are being run to support Drowning Prevention Week and are aimed at helping children and young people across the region understand the dangers of open water ahead of the summer holidays.
The programme is part of a wider effort to promote water safety, environmental awareness, and water conservation.
Anne Reed, social value and education manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “With the summer holidays approaching and warmer weather encouraging more people outdoors, it is important that children and young people understand the risk associated with open water.
“Education plays a vital role in preventing tragedies, and we are proud to support Drowning Prevention Week by helping thousands of pupils across Yorkshire to learn potentially lifesaving skills.”
The sessions, running throughout Drowning Prevention Week from June 13 to 20, are delivered by Yorkshire Water’s education team.
They will include both in-person assemblies at two Yorkshire Water schools located on the East coast and live virtual presentations.
The interactive sessions teach pupils about the dangers of reservoirs, rivers, canals, lakes, and coastal areas.
