Development of town’s Old Stone Yard site is approved

PLANS to build new industrial units on a Keighley site have been approved by Bradford Council.

The Old Stone Yard on Alkincote Street is currently home to one main unit along with three smaller, derelict units.

Earlier this year, Weyside Investment Ltd applied for planning permission to redevelop the site to create more industrial units there.

The plans would see an existing building extended to create new units, and a separate building made up of two new units built on another section of the site.

In total it would create six units on the site.

The application said: “The site has a long-established industrial use and is located within an area characterized by similar commercial and industrial activity.

“The scheme represents an appropriate and sustainable form of development that respects the existing industrial character of the site and its surroundings.

“It improves the quality, appearance, and functionality of the existing built form, makes efficient use of previously developed land and will not result in harm to residential amenity, highway safety, or the wider environment.”

There would be 17 parking spaces on the completed site.

Planning officers at Bradford Council have now approved the development, saying it would fit in with the area’s industrial nature.
