Bus operator to offer free travel for one day after major investment

A bus operator is offering free travel for one day.

Arriva Yorkshire will offer the free travel across all services in West Yorkshire on Sunday, April 12, as a gesture of thanks to passengers following recent investment and improvements.

The operator has introduced 50 new buses, manufactured by Alexander Dennis in Scarborough, now operating in Wakefield and Castleford.

Richard Hoare, managing director of Arriva Yorkshire, said: “We want to say a genuine thank you to our customers across West Yorkshire for their loyalty while we’ve been through a significant period of change and investment.

“We hope the free travel Sunday on 12 April will give people the chance to enjoy our new buses and explore some of the fantastic things our region has to offer, from independent markets and cultural attractions to some of Yorkshire’s best food and drink.

“What better way to visit them than on a Yorkshire-built bus.”

The investment programme includes upgraded depot facilities, a recruitment and training drive, and efforts to improve service reliability.
