Bradford South MP praises new £350 million Government funding to support businesses

JUDITH Cummins MP has applauded new government measures supporting businesses.

The Bradford South MP’s approval follows announcements of major support for two industries to boost UK manufacturing, secure jobs, and speed up industrial decarbonisation.

In the House of Commons on Thursday, Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP announced the government is “establishing a £350 million critical chemicals resilience fund to support strategically important producers.”

She also revealed “a new £120 million fund to help our historic ceramics sector, helping them to increase efficiency and drive down energy costs, because we will always stand up for British industry and for British jobs.”

These interventions come as both sectors face rising energy costs, global competition, and recent closures.

The government also pledged to work closely with the chemical industry to tackle wider competitiveness issues.

Bradford South, represented by Ms Cummins, is home to major chemical producers such as Solenis, Nufarm, and BASF.

The MP shared her thoughts on the announcements, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and trade unions.
