A businesswoman has been nominated for a national award.
Louise Tempest, owner of Pocket Rockets Yorkshire, launched the Yorkshire branch of the specialist Pocket Rockets cleaning franchise after facing a significant health challenge that prompted her to reassess her future and take a leap of faith into business ownership.
The company delivers services including deep cleaning, end-of-tenancy cleans, mould remediation, nicotine removal and trauma or biohazard cleaning.
Louise said: “At the heart of everything we do is compassion.
“Many of the situations we are called into involve people who may be facing difficult circumstances.
“It’s not just about cleaning a property – it’s about restoring spaces with care and treating everyone with dignity and respect.”
The business supports housing providers, organisations and private clients.
Louise has been nominated for Newcomer of the Year 2026 at the National Cleaning Awards.
Beyond running the business, she has been visiting local schools and taking part in careers events, encouraging pupils to consider the wide range of opportunities available in specialist cleaning and remediation.
Louise said: “I want young people to understand that there are many different paths available to them.
“If sharing my journey helps someone believe they can create something for themselves, then that’s incredibly rewarding.”
She aims to expand the business’ social impact through the Pocket Rocket Academy, a future training scheme focused on apprenticeships and opportunities for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Louise said: “My hope is to build something that creates real opportunities for young people who may need support finding their path.
“If we can help shape positive futures through skills, training and opportunity, that would be incredibly meaningful.”
