Saltaire Brewery’s El Dorado is shortlisted for top national award

A BRADFORD district-based brewery has been shortlisted for a top industry award.

El Dorado, a double Indian Pale Ale (IPA), produced by Saltaire Brewery, has been nominated for the Brewer’s Choice Award’s ‘New Beer of the Year’ prize.

The brewery is competing for the honour alongside London-based Exale Brewing & Taproom for its Jazz Dragon beer and Stroud Brewery’s Easy Peasy drink.

The El Dorado beer is described as bursting with flavour, with a blend of Azacca, El Dorado, Mosaic and Simcoe hops.

Saltaire Brewery has been developing its modern beer styles as well as its branding and artwork over recent months.

Following success in special cask beers last year and positive feedback from both retail and trade customers, the Dockfield Road-based brewery decided to develop its range into a 440ml can format.

El Dorado was created to showcase Saltaire Brewery’s move towards the latest trends in beer and its exploration of new techniques. The beer is available in can, keg, and cask, and is dubbed “a punchy, unique and flavourful tropical beer”.

Emily Oldfield, Saltaire Brewery marketing manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for the Brewer’s Choice Award for ‘New Beer of the Year’ – it’s a very prestigious award to be shortlisted for, with industry experts on the panel reviewing and tasting each entry.

“We’re really excited to be part of the awards and be among some fantastic entries.

“We’re really proud to have worked with local artist Ellie Way to create our beer packaging, enabling us to present our beers in new and exciting ways and exhibit our brewers’ talents with both unforgettable packaging and great-tasting beer.”

Saltaire Brewery will find out if it has won at the Brewer’s Choice Awards ceremony, which will be held in London on October 18.

Meanwhile, Saltaire Brewery Beer Festival will take place at its site in Shipley on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9. It will be the first time that the event has been held at its Dockfield Road home since 2019 due to the pandemic. A ticket gives customers entry for the whole day and on Saturday, the event will be two hours longer.

The festival will run between 2pm and 10pm on the Friday and from noon until 10pm the following day.
