Estate agency helps vulnerable people feel at home with charitable donation

Leading Yorkshire estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley is backing a Bradford-based charity that helps vulnerable and homeless people, donating almost £5,000 to The Immanuel Project.

The Immanuel Project started 11 years ago with the aim of giving people who live on the streets of Bradford a place to go, a warm meal and support. Set up as a temporary project for a few weeks, the service quickly became invaluable and The Immanuel Project, which is now a registered charity, provides over 12,000 meals every year to some of the most vulnerable members of the community in West Yorkshire.

Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, said: “Working in property, means that we help thousands of people find their ideal home every year and we see the joy and comfort a home brings. Unfortunately, for many different reasons, some people are unable to find a permanent home, which is when charities like The Immanuel Project step in and do such invaluable work. They provide a temporary home for a few hours and respite for people who are struggling. We are delighted to offer our support to this fantastic operation and make this donation in the run up to winter and the festive season, which can be a particularly challenging time for people who are homeless.”

Founder and trustee, Janet Bannister, from The Immanuel Project, said: “We provide our guests with a warm, comfortable, welcoming, and safe environment at our community hub in Bradford. We serve breakfast and a hot lunch, essentials, and practical support to between 250 and 300 homeless and vulnerable guests who attend our hub each week, either as a takeaway or sit-down service. We also run various wellbeing groups helping our guests to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem, as many of them have mental health and life controlling issues. Donations like the one from Dacres helps us to carry on caring, helping and supporting the lost, broken and homeless people of Bradford.”

Dacre, Son & Hartley operates from offices across 19 towns and cities in North and West Yorkshire. The firm regularly donates and supports a whole host of charities and community initiatives. This year the firm is also collecting new and unwrapped presents for the Pulse 1 Mission Christmas, Cash For Kids campaign, so that more disadvantaged children can enjoy the magic of Christmas.
