A founder has secured £100,000 to help more NHS patients manage anxiety.
Michael Crinnion, from Brighouse, won the Mayor’s Big Ideas Challenge to expand his Luma³ device, which uses light-guided breathwork to help patients stay calm during medical treatments.
More than 150 devices are already in use across West Yorkshire, including in Bradford hospitals supported by Macmillan Cancer Support.
Michael said: “I am incredibly honoured and grateful to have won this challenge.
“West Yorkshire is quickly establishing itself as a leading region for health tech innovation, and I’m proud to contribute to that growth.

“The funding and recognition from this award will directly enable more individuals to gain the essential skills and support required to manage their healthcare-related anxieties and the growing stresses of modern life.”
The new funding will support Luma³’s expansion into radiology and endoscopy departments, increasing access to calming, non-pharmaceutical support for patients during stressful procedures.
